This dissertation contributes to bridging this gap in academic knowledge by investigating the influence of pricing methods on the sales volume dynamics in three UK-based, online consumer electronics vendors.
The data is collected by means of semi-structured interviews with one owner/manager and two general managers of small and medium-sized online retailers.
The key finding is that the companies experiencing an increase in their sales volumes over the past year followed the same pricing strategy, which combined competitive pricing, discounting and personalised pricing.
For the firm employing the mix of competitive pricing, discounting and bundling, the sales volume increase was marginal, despite the overall positive dynamics of online electronics sales in the UK over the past year.
